Volunteering
The Porch is open 7 days a week! You can volunteer on Monday to Friday between 8.00am until 4pm and/or Saturday and Sunday 8.00am – 2.00pm
You don’t have to have any special skill. You can be any age over 18 and from any background or ethnic group. You just have to be non-judgemental and interested in people. Training is given.
What’s involved?
Volunteers spend time talking and listening to Members. Sometimes you can be the only person who has given attention and time to a person that day or even that week. You might well hear some fascinating life-stories.
Assisting with the laundry, serving food, washing up and cleaning are all part of the role. You can also get involved in other ways by sharing any special skills or interests you may have.
Can I share my skills?
Yes. We run a variety of activities and outings for members including art, computers, sports activities, reading and writing group and fun days out. If you have an interest in any of these areas then our project workers will welcome your help and support.
Equally we are always open to new ideas so if there is an activity we are not doing at the moment that you would like to contribute to, please speak to our service manager.u may have.

Permanent full-time position, £29,200 p/a, 37 ½ Hour’s p/w, Monday – Friday. Annual Leave: 23 days annual, plus bank holidays, 5% employer pension contributions.

The Porch – Relief Weekend Support Worker
Part-time position, £14.06 p/h (£27,417 pro rata to a full time position), up to 12 hour’s p/w, Saturday – Sunday. Annual Leave: 20 days annual, plus bank holidays (pro rata to a full time position), 5% employer pension contributions. This is a relief position for someone wanting to join our bank of relief workers to facilitate weekend services at The Porch.

If you would like to make a donation by post, please make your cheque payable to The Porch and send it to: Roger Lewins, The Porch, 139 Magdalen Road, Oxford OX4 1RL. If you are a tax payer you can increase the value of your gift to us by printing out and completing the donation form below and enclosing it with your cheque.
By Standing Order
However, standing orders provide us with a backbone of predictable, reliable income throughout the year. If you are at all able to support us in this way, please print out the donation form below and complete the standing order mandate (remembering to complete the Gift Aid section if you are a tax payer), returning it to:
